On August 13th hundreds of Strong America Now members marched together to the Ames Straw Poll. All members pledged to only vote for presidential candidates who promised to eliminate government waste and eliminate the deficit by 2017.
I am a moderate conservative and I feel as though Republicans are putting themselves in a box with the concept of reducing taxes, spending, and not generating revenues. I understand the concept of reducing regulations and taxation on job creators to stimulate our slow economy. Should I be so optimistic when I see job creators utilizing illegal immigrants and shipping our industries overseas. The rich taxation has remained the same for over 50 years due to loopholes and massive government subsidizationary policies. I understand the deficits are astronomically high and I do not want them to get any higher so I feel as though we should cut entitlement programs and also tax the job creators who do not choose to reinvest in the country that subsidizes it wealth via tax breaks and decreased regulation.
Sep 07, 2011 03:24 pmI am a LEAN advcocate & practitioner (ok, I'm not a consultant but rather a change agent) and I absolutely agree that LEAN and for that matter TOC, which I believe is more holistic and encompasses LEAN, should be actively applied in every facet of federal, state, and local government.
This "pledge" that you've concocted is however the silliest thing I've ever heard of. We don't need politicians who will continue to tell us one thing to get elected while following their overlords instructions once in office. Newt, and the rest of the field that has signed your pledge will, if elected, do what they have always done - Those from the republican party will reduce the tax burden on the wealthy and increase the tax burden on eveyone else. They will increase military spending and decrease spending on education and other domestic/social programs.
What we need is LEAN & TOC practioners (Consultants, executives, black belts from industry) to actually run for office and win!
Politicians do not have the real world experience to implement LEAN. they don't have the commitment to place lean leaders into key cabinet positions.
Give me a president who is a Master Black Belt. Give me a President who is a Jonah!
Sep 07, 2011 12:36 pmWillie T: Modernizing Government can happen overnight with or without implementing LEAN by abolishing the Federal Reserve. It's the root of big government, its waste, fraud and excessive debt. But that's not all. The Federal Reserve (or any variation of legalized cartel banking) is the cause of a larceny on so grand a scale that it shuts down the mind.
In my opinion, the challenge that we face is not modernizing government, it is understanding the immorality of wanting something for nothing, looking for where it manifests in our government and tearing them out by their roots.
The Fed is one of the best places to start. Abolishing it and assuring ourselves that no variation of fiat money takes its place, will transform this Country in less than three years, reduce waste to a tiny fraction of what it is today, make fraud an exception rather than the norm and eliminate debt. For any government to live within its means, we the people have to enforce sound money. Learn about it; fight it and win your freedom. There is no issue more pressing. See http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6507136891691870450 . It's a good place to start.
