Explosive arguments over cutting costs in Medicare could easily end if the president were to agree to a bipartisan debt-cutting plan, according to a private political organization hosting presidential candidates in Des Moines on Saturday.
Several Republican candidates will appear at the “Deficit Free America Summit,” either in person or by video, where organizers want to persuade them to sign a pledge to cut $500 billion a year for five years.
“If our plan is adopted, we’ll be deficit-free by 2017,” said Strong America Now founder Michael George.
