Our Founder, Mike George

Mike George is an expert on reducing the costs associated with business and government processes. Following an inspirational visit to Toyota in 1986, he founded the George Group. His personal mission was to help U.S. companies become competitive with the Japanese in cost, quality and delivery cycle time. From this experience, George created the Lean Six Sigma process, one the most popular management methodologies in the history of American business.

Clients of the George Group included Caterpillar, Xerox, Honeywell/Allied Signal, ITT, and United Technologies among others. In 2004, the United States Navy selected the George Group to use the Lean Six Sigma process to reduce costs and cycle time while also improving quality. Soon, the U.S. Army followed suit.

Thanks to Lean Six Sigma implementation, the Army improved processes, reduced costs by 25 percent, and reported $14 billion in savings. Imagine these same principals applied to all United States operations. Applied across the entire government’s budget, taxpayers would save hundreds of billions of dollars annually. By 2007, the George Group’s success meant 300 employees and annual revenues of $120 million. After selling the company to Accenture, Mike retired from the corporate sector and relinquished commercial interests in Lean Six Sigma.

His attention has now turned to Washington, D.C. Sharing his expertise with members of Congress and common-sense groups across the country, Mike’s personal mission is now to save the United States from financial disaster. The author of seven books on the subject of cost reduction and quality improvement, Mike George holds a B.S. in physics from the University of California and an M.S. in physics from the University of Illinois. He also holds several U.S. patents.
